So, the work has began. I'm currently working as a reliever which is quite hard as we can be placed anywhere from one week to the next. I'm quite lucky as there seems to be gaps in the cardiology rota for the next few months so that seems to be mostly what I'll be doing. Unlike the UK, 3rd years are still house-officers and unless you are in a branch speciality (renal, neuro, etc) you seem to do mostly paperwork again. However, most consultants are aware how much this differs from the UK and are quite keen on promoting....eek
Unlike the UK, however the rota is pretty amazing, in the next 14 weeks i'm doing 1 set of nights, about 7 on-call and I might have to do 2 weekends (but only if people call in sick short notice). With that in mind we have planned ski trips for the next 3 weekends...yey!!
Hope all is ok back in the UK.
